Christmas Ring and Run

We have started a fun new Christmas ring and run in our neighborhood this year.  If you would like to spread some Christmas cheer you should start one in your area too!  It is easy, all you have to do is make/buy 2 treats, print 2 signs and 2 letters.  Then comes the fun part...you pick an unsuspecting neighbor, drop a treat, a letter and a sign on their doorstep, ring the doorbell and run!  Then you do it again!  The letter then asks each of the people you "hit" to pass it on to two more people.  Start it as close to December 1st as possible to see how many signs you can get up in you area.

If you are wanting to start this in your area...or you have already been "hit" and need the signs and letters click HERE.

Also make sure that you pass on this blog address so that your neighbors can easily print off the letters and signs!

Christmas Candy Cabobs!

While I was waiting for my starbucks the other day I was browsing around the gift section of Chapters (I LOVE the gift section at Chapters) and I saw the cutest little Christmas candy cabobs (I know it is with a K but the c is so much cuter) and figured they would be fairly cheap and easy to make at home!

So I picked up some christmas candy and some skewers and got to work...
 SO cute!
All packaged up and ready to gift!!!  How perfect would these be for teachers, neighbors, or anyone else that you want to treat this holiday season!

Peppermint Oreos mmmmmm...

So I came across a new blog that I have totally fallen in love with.  It is called I heart naptime...cutest name ever!!!  On her blog I found a recipe for homemade peppermint oreos and knew that I just HAD to make them.  They are going to be perfect to eat with our hot chocolates before the Santa Claus parade!

Here is the line-up (minus the pepermint extract because it was out in the car still)...
I have never used boxed cake mix before so I was a little but skeptical, but man did they ever turn out delish.  I was making the batter while the fellas were still up so I did not get any pictures of the process...
BUT I did put them together after the boys were in bed so I had time to set them up in a pyramid and then prop this cute little elf with them for an after picture!!!  Could they be anymore festive?

Click HERE to link to the recipe on I heart naptimes!  You won't regret it :)

 Baking up in the oven!
 YUMMY!!!

Mrs. Lansing's Baby Shower

Last weekend Mel and I, with a lot of help from Kelsey, threw a baby shower for our friend Amber.  She is a teacher so we decided to go with a school theme for the shower. I did not have a ton of time to get pictures but here are few that I did get!

The favors were little homemade carmel apple dip (super yummy recipe courtesy of how does she), and an apple (that doubled as decor).
For snacks we had PB & J sandwiches,
 Cucumber sandwiches,
Milk and cookies (somehow I missed a pic of the cookies, we had PB, oatmeal chocolate chip, and best evers)
Custom Water bottles, and we also had fruit and fruit dip, and I also missed a picture of that!
We used tissue paper pom poms to decorate the house, and also to mark the house from the outside!
We made apple prints and framed them to display at the shower.  We also used index cards, and apples!
Some more index cards and apples!
Apples and an authentic first day of school binder!
The day's agenda!

Game details...
ABC's - We gave the teams a letter and they had to come up with as many baby names as possible in one minute.  We played 3 rounds, round 2 was double points and round 3 was triple points.  Lots of fun!
Math - we played a price is right style of game. The teams guessed the price of the items in a contestants row style of play, this game was also a lot of fun!

Some other fun ideas
- reserved parking for the mother to be right out front
- hand out blank cards to the guests as they leave to write "tips" to the mother to be and send them to her in the mail!   Doesn't everyone love mail!

I got a lot of these ideas from a lot of different websites and I can't give credit to them because at the time I was not planning on blogging it so I did not write them down.

The reason for this blog...

So I decided I needed to start another blog...not because I need another thing to do, but because I needed another place to talk about the things that I do!  I have come to LOVE blogging about my family...but I also want to blog about some other things...marthaish things, and this is where you can find them!
