Snail Mail Monday - #2

Since we are coming up on St. Patricks day I thought that I would come up with something simple, sparkly and green!

Here is the line-up...

The first thing I did was draw out 2 clovers...one bigger than the other. I drew mine out on sticker paper.

Then I cut them out, peeled off the backs, and stuck them to the green felt...WAY easier than using paper and having to pin it!

Then I cut out two of each and glued them together.

I put and alligator clip on the back...

and a rhinestone on the front!!!

These could be clipped on like a broach, clipped into your hair, or anything else that you can imagine up!

I packaged it up and mailed it off to two of my favorite gals!  I am not showing the envelope because the only thing fancy about it is the names and I would have to blur it out anyways!!!

Lucky Vanilla Cupcakes

The other night Ali from the Petite Parisian and I got together to do a little cupcake making.  I have been meaning to post this since Monday night...it is now 11:59 on Wednesday night, I am dead dog tired, but I have to get this up so you can all make them!!!  We decided to try Sprinkle Bakes' Lucky Vanilla Cupcakes...So cute, if you have not been by her blog you should check it out!

Here is your line-up! (I found the adorable little ceramic milk carton at Michaels for $2)

Start by mixing your butter and sugar

Perfect...

Add your eggs one at a time...not quite sure why but that's what the recipe says and who am I to argue!

Next you have to empty the vanilla bean into the vanilla...I totally love vanilla beans!

splat!

Can you see the bee-oo-tiful little flecks in there???  If not look harder, they are totally there!

Okay what happened next is a little embarrassing...I saw something sparkly and forgot to take pictures of the remaining steps of the batter.  Ali got her shipment of disco dust on Monday and at this point she was doing our golden horse shoes...I LOVE LOVE LOVE glitter...and this is edible glitter, so I don't think that I can really be held accountable for the missing pictures...you will be able to figure it out!!!

Anyways once you get them in the oven you can start on your icing...
line up...

cream your butter and cream cheese together...

add the honey and mix again

Add your icing sugar...the recipe calls for between 3 an 4 cups, we found 3 to be just perfect!

Next you need to grind up some pistachios...
before

after

picture perfect!

And here are our little beauties all done...

ps it is now 12:08...quickest blog EVA!!! hahaha

Snail Mail Monday - #1

So this is it...the first day of Snail Mail Mondays.  After I posted that I was going to do this I could NOT fall asleep...I was up forever thinking about things that I could mail in an attempt to make someone's day!

Here is the first one...
I burnt a CD that I think a friend of mine will love, and wrote her a little note (I blanked out the names involved because she may or may not read this blog!!!)

I picked out a piece of double sided scrapbook paper, placed the CD in the middle and traced around it

Then I cut the corners out

I free handed (I am sure you can tell), the square edges into rounded edges, and then scored on the black lines

The edge pieces then folded up nicely...

I taped them down

and BAM...all ready to mail off!

Snail Mail Monday

The weather here has been CRAP lately...we are talking -32ish Celsius for what feels like weeks!!!  I have not been out of the house, or my sweats in days!  Last night before bed I decided that I was going to embrace the look good feel good philosophy, so I dyed my hair, and was getting ready to paint my toenails when one of the boys woke up.  I was up ALL night with sick kiddos...one of them took the 11-3 shift, and another one took the 3-9 shift, thank goodness the other one didn't take a shift...needless to say, I stayed in my sweats...dirty sweats, all day...again (well usually they are not dirty, that was special for today! hahaha)

Also, my husband left for work on Tuesday, he is going to be gone for two weeks, and the fellas and I are missing him like CRAZY. I drove to Starbucks today (because they can make most things better), and their debit/credit machines were down so they were only taking cash...WHO HAS CASH THESE DAYS?!?!?!  On the way home I stopped to pick up the mail and as I was getting out of the vehicle I dropped the mail key in the snow, grrr.  SO basically a day beyond saving...but then, when I got the mail, there it was, a postcard!!!  Totally made my day...and it wasn't even for me hahaha!

Okay so I hope I haven't lost anyone with all my whining, I promise I am done!  I am now snuggled up on my cuddle chair with a tea, a cupcake (who am I kidding there are two cupcakes), my mac, and my new idea for a feature!!!

Starting this monday I am going to send a piece of mail, with some sort of special treat, to a special person!  Who doesn't LOVE good mail!!!

So be sure to check back Monday and see whats going out for this week's snail mail monday!!!

And if you have any ideas for fun things to send let me know!!!

Jewellery Cubby Organization

When we built our current house our plan was to live in it for about a year or so and then build again, so our small ensuite was not a major concern...it was just going to be a year or two.  Well along came our boys and they kind of put a hold on our plans to move again...so we are still dealing with the small ensuite.  Without a doubt the most unorganized space in the ensuite is my jewellery cubby, I usually wear the same pieces over and over because they are on the top of the pile and easiest to grab.  Here is what it looked like before...

I went to Canadian Tire and picked up a pack of these hooks for about $3.00...

I took everything out of the cubby and started screwing the hooks into the wall and hanging stuff on them.  The hooks were surprisingly easy to screw into the wall and in no time at all I was done the bracelets, rings and earings side...

The necklace side was a little tougher because I had to use my weak little left hand to put the screws in, but I did manage and this is how it looks...

Obviously not everything can be hung so there are still some things that need to be on the shelf.  I LOVE how it turned out, I open the door to look at it everytime I am in the ensuite!  Here is the after, best $3 I ever spent!!!

Valentines Day Cupcakes!

I have no pictures of the making of these cupcakes...they were made while the fellas were still up.  The boys LOVE the kitchenaid as much as I do...seriously! But they are not big fans of me stopping to take pictures!

Anyways here is the final product, and yes I used the sprinkle medley AGAIN!!!  I can't get enough of it!  I did add another type of sprinkle into the mix though so it is not the EXACT same!!!

All the cupcakes, yummy!  This batch is heading over to the school that I taught at before the boys were born!
And for all you cupcake lovers out there if you don't have this cupcake carrier you NEED to find one!!! It holds 36 cupcakes and it is the same size as the wilton one that only holds 12!!!  I found mine at Costco awhile back but I know that you can get them on amazon!

Sam's Sesame Street Second Birthday Party!

My friend Mandi hosted a Sesame Street themed party today for her son Sam's second birthday, so much fun!  I have some of the pictures to post but if you would like to see the full rundown of the party click here to visit her blog!

The guests were greeted with this PERFECT sign on the door! {notice the attention to detail...the SAM in seSAMe street are outlined black...perfect!}

The adorable birthday boy sporting some new shades...thank goodness he got these because when we first got there he spent a good 5 minutes trying to get mr.potato head's glasses on! hahaha

This party was brought to you by the number 2 and the letter S...so cute!

Mandi also went to a TON of work organizing a bunch of different stations!  Thank goodness she is a teacher and enlisted her students to make these awesome signs!  There were 5 stations in total.  The first one was BIG BIRD'S BOOKS, complete with elmo beanbag chair and Sesame Street books.  She also used the foam letters and numbers from the floor mat to decorate...genuis!!!

Next was ERNIE'S RUBBER DUCKY TUB, as you can see this station was a hit!

OSCAR'S TRASH TOSS - perfect for making sure that all the wrapping paper gets cleaned up quickly!!!

There was also a ME LOVES COOKIES! station that was a very simple pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey style game and ELMO LOVES HIS CRAYON AND PLAYDOH TOO , which had colouring sheets that Mandi had printed off the Sesame Street website which is amazing if your kids are into SS.  Because there were so many fun activities happening I barely even noticed that there were 15 kiddos there!!!

{funny little side note - I got to Mandi's just a little bit early to help with some last minute stuff.  I said something about there being 15 kids coming and her sister said "oh, I thought there was only going to be 13, I guess 2 more doesn't make that big of a difference", if this doesn't sound funny maybe you don't know that I am the mother of 17.5 month old triplets....and let me tell you 2 more definitely DOES make a difference!!!}

The cupcake tower...
Close up on one of my favs!

Some more decorations and treats...

Custom waterbottles to go with the theme!

And as everyone left the party they got a wonderful Sesame street book, and a bag of sugar cookies in the shapes of S's and 2's!

The party went SO smoothly thanks to all of Mandi's hard work prepping and planning!  Our family was glad that we got to be a part of Sam's special day!

...and one other cute thing that we forgot to get pictures of was the labels for the food...a little detail that adds a big punch!
